Dive Into Art: “Under the Sea” Exhibition Showcases Local Craft Artisans

An enchanting journey beneath the waves awaits visitors at the upcoming "Under the Sea” exhibit, an eye catching experience highlighting the extraordinary work of local craft artisans. The exhibit opens July 1st at Charleston Crafts Gallery, inviting the community to explore the wonder and mystery of ocean life through the lens of handcrafted artistry.

From delicately quilled coral reefs by Fairoozan Abdullah, to vibrant textile seascapes by Lynne Gettelfinger, and sculptures of sea dwellers by Randy Aschenbrenner and Regina Semko, “Under the Sea” offers a stunning celebration of marine inspiration and creative craftsmanship. Each piece reflects the unique voice of local artists, capturing the intricate beauty of underwater ecosystems while showcasing diverse mediums such as woodwork, fiber art, paper sculpture, and more.

“We wanted to create a space where imagination and environmental consciousness could merge,” says Nancy Warren, Gallery Chair. “The sea holds endless inspiration, and our artisans have truly brought that magic to life with their hands.”

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the artists during the opening reception on July 11, 2025, 5-8pm, and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces that support the local community.
