Charleston Crafts Cooperative Gallery

We welcome applications from skilled fine craft artisans interested in joining our co-op community.

Please ensure that you thoroughly review this page and the membership application before submitting your materials.

We are an artist-managed cooperative gallery located at 140 East Bay Street in the popular French Quarter of downtown Charleston, SC. We accept new members through a juried process held three to four times annually.

Applicants should demonstrate pronounced artistic vision and originality beyond the amateur or hobbyist level. The artist's creative contribution and concept must be evident in their work. For instance, jewelry should not merely consist of pre-assembled materials, but should feature original elements such as beadmaking, fiberworking, metalworking, or similar techniques that highlight the artisan’s skill. Submissions using commercial kits or patterns will not be considered.

All members must reside in South Carolina for at least six months per year, work one day per staffing session (typically monthly), pay annual dues to the co-op, and remit commissions on sales.

In order to apply for membership, you will need to submit 5 images showcasing your work. These photos do not need to meet professional standards as they serve solely as a means to assess whether the work you intend to submit is eligible for consideration. If your work passes the pre-qualification stage, we'll reach out to schedule a jurying session. For this session, you'll be asked to bring in 5-7 pieces for evaluation, which don't necessarily have to be the same ones depicted in the photographs. The jury session is a short interview in which you will present your work and answer questions from our panel of members about your background, methods, materials, and inspiration.

Thank you so much for your interest and we hope to meet you at the gallery soon!
