Masks for a Full Moon

Under the glow of creativity and lunar inspiration, Charleston Crafts Gallery proudly announces its upcoming exhibition, "Masks for a Full Moon," opening October 1, 2025 and running through October 31. This dynamic showcase brings together the bold visions of three regional artists whose work explores transformation, identity, and the natural world through diverse media.

Featured artists include:

  • Thia Beniasch – With an expressive use of polymer clay, Beniasch presents a collection of narrative-driven scenes that evoke emotion and mystery.

  • Carrie Helmkamp – Sculptor and ceramic illustrator, Helmkamp brings depth and personality to clay, crafting intricate, whimsical mask forms that blur the lines between folklore, fantasy, and fine art.

  • Tammy Rudd – Flame worked glass jewelry artist, Rudd offers luminous wearable art inspired by lunar phases and the symbolism of masks, skillfully merging form and function.

“This exhibit is an invitation to reflect on the symbolic nature of masks—how they conceal, reveal, and transform,” says Gini Steele, member artist. “Each artist brings a distinct voice and medium to this conversation, creating a rich, layered experience for visitors.”

An opening reception will be held on Friday,  October 3rd, 5-8pm, featuring light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the creators behind the work.

Masks for a Full Moon will be on display at Charleston Crafts Gallery, located at 140 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401. The Gallery is open daily 10am - 6pm.
